Guest guest
Hello to all.. I've been underwater for the last couple months. Despite monthly hospital visits of a couple days each, I prepared a record number of tax returns this year. It was a crazy season, but I survived. I'm still working on a bunch of returns that are on extension, but the worst part of tax season is over. I'm still fighting big flareups of painful lesions in my mouth and throat. The related pain is what has landed me in the hospital every month. Remicade always fixes the problem within hours of the infusions. All of the biopsies and tests for fungi, viruses, and bacteria come back negative, so that leads to the conclusion that this could be a Crohns flareup or other autoimmune condition. Behcet's disease is one possibility, but nothing definitive has been concluded. Interestingly, the doctors I've seen at town, including the otolaryngologist, rheumatologist, gastroenterologist, and hepatologist all agree on one thing: the anti-rejection meds used post-transplant will likely stop these flareups. That's another argument in favor of the transplant. Which leads to the big news. We found a living donor, and town put their final stamp of approval on the transplant a couple hours ago. Right now, we're looking at mid June for the surgery. A lot still has to happen between now and then, but things are finally progressing. I'm sorry I missed the ville conference this year...I was just in no shape to make the trip, even though it would have been a great after tax season vacation. I'll definitely make the next one, though. Keep the faith, and I'll post updates as they are available. Tom PSC 1999 Crohns 2006
