brand I use is “NOW 100% Pure Whey Protein Isolate”. It’s available at

here. In any case, please go slow, start very very gradually, and stop

I apologize if people feel that I am encouraging dangerous practices.

Just wanted to share my experience, and let other adults make their own

Ritesh,

While sharing your experience is not necessarily a bad thing, posting

illegal products IS a problem. Yes, I know you said all the proper

things about knowing it was illegal, and deciding to go ahead with it,

any way. But I guarantee you that down the line, someone will say,

" Oh, but he was strict SCD and HE said whey powder was OK on the

diet! "

Elaine would be turning over in her grave at something like that being

posted on an SCD list. Because if you are eating proper amounts of food,

you don't need fast protein. I just came from a 2.5 hour

core-strengthening workout, combined with an hour of deep water

swimming... I do know exercise! I was hungry. So, I ate some pecans, some

cheese crisps, and some chicken salad, along with a small amount of

cherries for carbs. No illegals necessary.

I do, myself, use one SCD-illegal product, which I won't name in public.

I use it for control of muscle spasm in my back -- and my alternative is

codeine. I discussed the issue with Elaine, and reached a considered

decision: as with any medicine, do the benefits out weigh the problems?

And the answer is, emphatically, yes. But I have paid for that decision

by the fact that it has taken me longer to heal that it probably would

have if I had been able to forego it.

Whey protein is not a medication. It can increase symptoms of IBS

and colitis. It's a processed food product, with plenty of media hype

behind it, just like the hype that tells us we can't prepare healthy

meals on our own. Whey protein is SCD illegal.
