Guest guest
We are an obese nation and have been steadily growing for a number of years. Now all the sudden it is a major issue, when it should have been an issue 15 + years ago. A majority of " fat " folks could become smaller if they just got active. But there are the few that despite all their efforts, short of surgery, are going to be obese. Do I think everyone should have to pay for this, no! But where do we start to increase the charge? Do we go by a patients weight or by their girth? Do we charge by the number of people it took to load and unload the cot? How do we charge this? Some insurances won't cover people because they are obese and they see this a pre-existing condition. Well duh it is pre existing, but why? Is it because they don't eat healthy, they don't exercise, or because it is their genetic make up? So we have the larger than life truck for the larger than life pt who doesn't have insurance, who is going to pay that bill?
