Guest guest
Fire services who do EMS are making a fundamental error by restricting their service to emergency 911 calls. They typically give away the " gravy, " the routine transfers, to the private sector. There must be a reason that there are more than 100 private services in Dallas County and over 200 in County. When will city managers and mayors wake up to the fact that they are giving away millions of dollars in revenue that should be going to the cities? In these days of budget crunches, it astounds me that they have not awakened to this fact and taken over the whole spectrum of medical transports. I expect that we will see that happening as more and more departments find themselves starved for funding. Of course, there will be a revolt among union firefighters who will say " We didn't sign on to be granny toters " and so forth. Fine, hire civilian EMTs to do that part. BTW, I am not advocating for this to happen, just observing. I have no interest one way or another. Gene Gandy
