Guest guest
Weight loss is, to me, a mysterious process. When I first started Weight Watchers, the first 40 pounds came off simply. Then I got stuck. I was stalled for a year to be finally told by my doctor that I needed thyroid medication. He had known for a long time, but didn't think it was significant issue! I got my meds, but then when I still wasn't losing I tried an elimination diet and found my gluten intolerance. The only way I managed to lose 10 more pounds was lifting weights and being on SCD. I have tried low-carb, high-carb, high protein, high fat, low fat SCD. After tracking my food for 6 months, I discovered that I lose on 1200 calories a day and maintain on 1400 cals. I feel better with about 40% carbs, less red meat, and good fats like almonds, avocados, nut butters and some dairy butter. Last year I was eating more vegetables and fruit than anything else. I was able to tolerate cow yogurt and life seemed good. I was at about 164 lbs. The darn doctor, a new one, prescribed iron pills. My iron levels were very low and I was getting dizzy trying to exercise. I took the iron pills but I blew up like a balloon. And that's were I am today, big belly and 183 lbs. I guess I just have to accept the belly, and start working out hard. I have been feeling very overwhelmed by stress because of my first semester teaching in a high school. Now that summer is here, I am finally starting to feel like myself: the house is cleaner, the garden has flowers planted in it, and there is SCD food in the freezer. Exercise is next on the list! Thanks for the ideas. It's nice to know I am not alone in my struggles. SCD really can pack on the pounds; almond butter, cashew muffins, cheese, yogurt made from cream, avocados, evil pork rinds...
