Soda Bread with Raisins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a large baking sheet.

In a bowl mix 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup margarine, and 2/3 cup raisins.

Stir in 1 cup buttermilk and 1 egg. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface. Form into a round; place on baking sheet.

In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup of buttermilk; brush loaf with mixture. Cut an X into top and bake 45-50 minutes. Serve with preserves.
