There is a theory in teaching that says that if the technique you are using with a child is not working, then change it--not the task but the technique. There are many children who are difficult to teach and still they learn. I see no reason why your child is not progressing. It sounds to me as if the school is not using strong enough reinforcers. My son too is difficult to teach, so I know how you feel. However, if we have a strong enough reinforcer, he can learn and does. Sometimes the most difficult part is finding reinforcers because he has such limited interests, but it can be done. I think you should speak to the school about finding good reinforcement and using good teaching techniques. Dr. Carbone from Florida has said that every time he has been called in to consult on a " difficult " case, he has found that the teaching was the problem, not the child. Take heart and don't give up. Good luck and God bless you!

Guest guest
Its good to hear they will give you another option other than the ultrasound, because you are right, some are wrong with dates, etc...If it were me, I would have the d and c, 3 years ago I had it confirmed my baby was no longer alive, and I opted to wait it out, well big mistake, I lived an hour from town, and started hemmoraging(sp?) and I didnt have anyone to take me to the hospital, if I had waited for the ambulance to drive the hour, i would have probably bled to death, so I drove myself in, without further details, it was quite an ordeal by the time I arrived at the hospital, dont mean to scare you, but I thought you should know the possibilites, they ended up doing an emergency d and c....good luck Robin RNY 2/27/2002 Little 06/26/03 5 precious children to light the way
