Guest guest
I know this is scary, and I think all of us here understand that fear. The prep and the anxiety are the worst of it. Otherwise you are sedated, and don't remember it. I hope all goes well, and that you get good news. PJ > > One other thing...this so often seems to be overlooked (speaking from my own experience as well as others), make sure the pathologist makes slides from any tissue samples taken. Make sure your doc or the nurses assisting understand that you are requesting that slides be made and that you will want a copy of the pathology report showing the stained intestinal villi. If the doc or pathologist says it is not necessary...make eye contact and in your calm and most assertive voice say " But, I insist. " Any doc or pathologist who thinks that they can tell villi damage from eye-balling it are alien creatures with microscopic vision, i.e. not familiar with the diseases that we are all dealing with. You can not make a conclusive determination of celiac disease, microscopic colitis, or Crohn's disease without the slides. > This will save you from going through these same procedures all over again a few months down the road. > > My best to you... > Sharon > > > Scared! getting scoped on Thursday for the first time! > > > I have always had IBS and lactose intolerance since I was 12 years old when it was diagnosed by a GI. Since then I have had mild problems here and there, but nothing like I have been experiencing the past month. I am now 34 and have a 5 year old son. I just woke up one day last month with abdominal pains and diarrhea and have have not really been able to tolerate or digest many foods since then and the pain is every morning when I wake up. I have lost 5 lbs this month and just keep loosing. The GI wants to do a scope down my throat and at the other end too. > I am scared about going under sedation as I had a bad experience with anesthesia when I had a D & C about 6 years ago. I was allergic to the anesthesia and don't want to go through that again. Also, I'm scared about them sticking scopes down my throat!!! > > Does it hurt? I have to do the prep tomorrow, not looking forward to that! Is it really painful? I really want to find out what's wrong with me and my GI said this is the only way to really find out and I need to have this procedure done. He told me about the others, but said they are not as accurate. >
