Guest guest
Cindy, What dose are you on? Could it be too high? Fentanyl did help me sleep but not to the point of falling over asleep and it didn't make me nauseated. Is it safe for you to drive? Guest guest
I am on 25 mg for 72 hours. I think that is the smallest dosage. I probably shouldn't be driving, but I am. It didn't really affect or impair me until yesterday, which was the 9th day. Cindy Baudoux-Northrup
Guest guest
Cindy - 12 mcg per hour (72 hour for patch) is the lowest dose and you can certainly request that. Unless you were on a lot of narcotics prior to the patch, starting at 25 mcg can easily cause sedation, dizziness, etc for someone. Joanne I am on 25 mg for 72 hours. .. Guest guest
Before my transplant, any prescription pain meds would effect me way more than they should. I could take one pill and still feel it 12 hours later. I don't know how Fantanyl is metabolized, but if it's metabolized in the liver, I bet your absorbing it from the patch faster than your liver can get rid of it and it's building up in your system. Before my transplant I also tended to get nauseated from any prescription pain meds. I remember one time they prescribed me a cough syrup with hydrocodone in it and said that it worked best if I took it regularly on schedule. After about a day and a half I was super spaced out and feeling sick. Finally I realized that I was overdosing myself on it! It took about 24 hours before it was out of my system. Now that I'm post tx it takes about 3 hours to get a dose out of my system, so it was definitely the liver disease causing the problem. If a lower dose is available, I'd definitely request it if it's available. Or perhaps you could wait longer between changing patches. That would give you liver more time to catch up. athan

Guest guest
Cindy, I mean this in the kindest way, but you know about as much about soap-opera experiences as anybody. I am doing soap-opera diagnosing new disease right now. My itching is pretty awful right now. So many problems, so few answers. Guest guest
Cindy, I was put on the patch about a year and a half ago, however I had severe nausea and vomiting with in 24 hours of having the first patch applied. I would just be on the look out to make sure that you are not having a reaction to it. Sandi Fentayl patch Ok, I've been on this patch for a week. The first 2patches were pretty good to me, still itching, but adifferent type of itch that can be satisfied. The 3rdpatch that I put on, I was okay that first night, butthen I returned to work, and while sitting at my pc,started getting nauseated. Everytime I felt betterand returned to my desk, it would hit again, so Iasked for paperwork so I wouldn't be on the phone witha customer. Then I requested vacation for the rest ofthe day and they gave me it.Last night, I was sitting on the edge of the bed, andfell asleep and fell head first. I jammed my fingersand my wrist. It looks like this will be a soap-opera experience.Cindy Baudoux-Northrup
