D'you know what, the bar is all artdeco and probably walnut veneered. There are reliefs of naked ladies (respectable of course) and huge marble vases with exquisit tiny orchids growing out of them. Pretty much every other surface is guilded. But it was all so polished that it looked like bacolite! At one time it was probably considered an oppulent masterpiece and they have endevoured to maintain it. Now, I found it dark and overbearing.

Just no pleasing some people is there

I to think the ritzzzzzz places are gaudy. Trump Plaza is garish, I was shocked at how cheap everything looked.  Of course that was years ago. My Ex MIL loves anything painted gold and it just looks tacky to me. Of corse I'm country.. go figure. I am so glad you had a good time. I to think the ritzzzzzz places are gaudy. Trump Plaza is garish, I was shocked at how cheap everything looked.  Of course that was years ago. My Ex MIL loves anything painted gold and it just looks tacky to me. Of corse I'm country.. go figure. I am so glad you had a good time.
