Guest guest
Hello! I was just wondering what MELD score some of you were at when you were listed?? My husband went for his Transplant Eval at University Hospital in Cleveland just yesterday. They say it's a 3-day process and yesterday was meeting with the staff, blood work, chest xray & EKG. His MELD is a 6 which I understand to be the lowest. While his #'s remain consistent and bilirubin remains good!!!, his itching is OUT OF CONTROL and he is so fatigue. He remains to work and tries to stay active, but the fatigue is getting to him. He was recently put on Rifampin and just yesterday by the Hep, Periactin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The Transplant Coordinator stated they will put him through the workup and then a decision will be made if he should be listed. I was just wondering if individuals are listed with a MELD of 6? Thanks in advance! - Crohn's - '88; PSC '
Guest guest
My hepatologist said my MELD will need to be between 10 & 15 for me to be listed by UCLA (here in Los Angeles). It's interesting to hear that with a MELD of 6 your husband also suffers from itching and fatigue. Theoretically I should have fatigue or itching or nausea with a MELD of 6. But I do. . . Guest guest
Yes, they get listed at 6, but the liklihood of getting the call is very minimal. I was listed as 11 and dropped to 9. I've been on the list for 2 years and received a call as the back up candidate 2 weeks ago, but I turned down the opportunity due to hep b in the liver (the donor liver). I can tell you the ONLY symptom that gets me is ITCHING. It affects my ability to get the much needed rest, therefore, I was put on Ambien CR to knock me out at night so I get the needed rest. All the other meds are NOT helping the itching. I really sympathize with your husband because being fatigued and itching makes one irritable and frustrated. I continue to work as well, because I can either be miserable at home and give up or work and be miserable. I've heard people say you can get an exception for itching, but have yet to know anybody who did, or to get my doctor to do it. UNOS just doesn't care about itching because it's not life-threatening (yeah right! It is if you start contemplating suicide) Cindy Baudoux-Northrup __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I just wanted to say that my MELD is only 6 and my fatigue is unrelenting and my itching is extreme although I do get blessed with good days. Everyone says that my twins are the reason I'm fatigued. Yah....they are wrong. But still. I hope everything goes well!
