Position Summary: The Education Instructor/Assistant is responsible for teaching and coordinating a variety of educational and training opportunities which may include, but are not limited to, TDSHS certification courses, TDSHS/NREMT refresher courses, coordination of clinical/field internships, as well as all required card courses. The Education Instructor/Assistant should also participate in community outreach by initiating public education opportunities Criteria: The incumbent must be a certified or licensed Paramedic in good standing with the TDSHS, possessing a minimum of five (5) years at the Paramedic level with two (2) years in an In-Charge or Senior Medic status. An Associates Degree of Applied Sciences in Emergency Medical Technology or equivalent is preferred. Current TDSHS or NAEMT Instructor credential course or equivalent is required, as well as instructor certifications in the following courses: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Instructor certifications in the following courses are preferred: Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). Additional class work or seminars in management type courses and problem-solving techniques are preferred. Command Structure: The Education Instructor/Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Education.
