Guest guest
Answers to the questions (I hope other people on the list are interested in this too ) If you have different kinds of metal in your mouth you have a potential difference ( I hope this is the right translation from Dutch! ) between the metals. This means that you have a kind of electrical circuit in your mouth. You can feel this when you have a new amalgam filling and an old one, you feel a kind of electrical shock when they touch. Or when you chew on an aluminium paper with your amalgam filling. I don´t know what metal braces are made of , the white ones are ceremic and will not cause this problem. Only the wire will still be made of metal I think. The second question about the pulpotomy: I know the procedure and it is accurate but in my practice I don`t use it. When I see an abscess I pull the tooth out ( IF IT IS NOt A PERMANENT TOOTH!) The decayed tooth can cause troubles with the permanent tooth and I feel it is better to get rid of any inflammation in your body. If you want to keep the tooth you can use the composite and the glasionomer. The difference between these two is the composition and the way they are used. There is also a filling that looks like both, called a compomer. In Holland we use that a lot in pediatric dentistry. It is a little water resistant and strong enough for a milktooth. Both these fillings are white and I am sure your dentist is familiar with them. Philippine
