Guest guest
, Every one is different, and makes different choices. If you read the stories of people like Raman Prasad and Ramacher,( authors of SCD cookbooks) each one states that you should follow your doctor's advice on meds. Even Elaine states that in BTVC, that the intention is not to substitute diet for meds. However, some state that they did stop their medication against their doctor's advice after being on SCD and symptom- free for many many months, even years. I have only been on the diet 3 months. Yes, this tries our patience, but the advice of those with more experience say this diet takes time. I also like to hear the success stories as it helps me too. You may like Raman Prasad's stories as he was also diagnosed with UC as a young man. He has written a cookbook as well as his own book about his experience. Meanwhile, enjoy feeling well. PJ > > I have Ulcerative Colitis. Been on the diet for almost 2 months (still very newbie) but i'm incredibly impatient! I still have pain, but i'm " normal " as far as no blood and solid BM's. This is definitely from the medicine i'm on though which for now is asacol 12 pills a day and Entocort enema's every night before bed. > > My question is, for those of you who have Ulcerative Colitis and did the SCD diet, how long did it take to get off your meds? How was your progress of getting off them? I'm pretty sure i'll know if I have a reaction to a food even while i'm on meds, so i'm following the stages on pecanbread. I just want to hear some success stories because it will make me feel better about following this diet. Please give as much info as you can, and thanks in advance!! > > - >
