The ITCH is one of the worst symptoms of PSC or most other liver disease. Enlightened doctors realize it affects one's quality of life as much as pain. Many other folks just figure it is like the itch of a bug bite, or a little rash. IT IS NOT, The itch can come and go, be horrible one day and manageable the next. It depends on the levels of bile in your system that is not being managed by your liver. Call your doc and get some medication to help. Many people have found help. I had UV/B light treatments and the itch went away after several weeks. This needs to be done carefully to minimize the risk of skin cancer.

Some people here have noticed a correlation between their diet and the intensity of the ITCH. Some have said avoiding greasy of fatty food helps and others say junk food in general increases the itching. This makes sense because the liver has to process all the fats and other difficult to digest food additives.

In the mean time, get a body scrub brush, or a shower brush, one with a long handle to scratch with. This scratches a larger surface and protects your skin from your finger nails breaking the skin and possibly causing scars and/or infections.

I went 21 years between dx and tx. (dx-diagnosis and tx-transplant). The itch came and went, but was manageable until the last 3 years.
