Guest guest
Attempted first round of chelation for 10 year old son with probable Hg (and potential Lyme disease) last weekend. Did 25 mg of DMSA only every 4 hours for my 95 lb'er. Started at the 6 PM Friday dose, but discontinued at the Sunday morning 2 AM dose because after 1 full day of feeling ok, by Sat evening he was becoming nauseated and generally feeling bad. Panicked and stopped because I was worried about this new combination of medicines in his sensitive system - since he is also taking abx for Lyme (biaxin, a sulfa, and flagyl every 2 weeks). As per the protocol, I stopped completely. I am supplementing him with supportive vits, minerals, probiotics as best I can. These in themselves can also be hard on the stomach. I plan to try again next weekend with half the dose, 12.5 mg DMSA. Question: was the nausea likely due to my dosage, dosage period -- note that it did not coincide with taking the pills directly. He has been taking supplements for a while, so it was not as if there were a lot of new introductions in his diet. Also, he is extremely fatigued and just not feeling well as of yesterday, Monday. Comments or advice? It is so very hard to differentiate when there are adverse reactions, considering the number of variables. Not sure you can use the sulfa drugs with the chelators, have to look it up - you may want to post to - TheSkyKing@... who is the owner here and had Lyme, Andy and the Autism list which works with children. > > I am supplementing him with supportive vits, minerals, probiotics as > best I can. Guest guest
i have both lyme and Hg poisoning. i was on antibiotics and took chelators at the same time without problems (although that much DMSA would have made me feel pretty bad when i started also). i don't recommend antibiotics for lyme disease. they're good if your kid hasn't had lyme for more than a few weeks. other than that you aren't going to do him any good and will kill a lot of his good intestinal flora (so it's good you're giving him probiotics) and prolong the duration of the lyme disease (if he has it) and make his and i'm sure your life that much harder. a very good resource is the lyme book from www.lymebook.com. somebody mentioned emailing " bryan " . he is the author. i'm sure it would be good to email him. i would guess that the nausea was from the dmsa, but die-off from lyme can also build up over time and cause nausea at random points too, so i don't know. larry > > Attempted first round of chelation for 10 year old son with probable > Hg (and potential Lyme disease) last weekend. > > Did 25 mg of DMSA only every 4 hours for my 95 lb'er. > > Started at the 6 PM Friday dose, but discontinued at the Sunday > morning 2 AM dose because after 1 full day of feeling ok, by Sat > evening he was becoming nauseated and generally feeling bad. > > Panicked and stopped because I was worried about this new combination > of medicines in his sensitive system - since he is also taking abx for > Lyme (biaxin, a sulfa, and flagyl every 2 weeks). > > As per the protocol, I stopped completely. > > I am supplementing him with supportive vits, minerals, probiotics as > best I can.
