Guest guest
>How many here are taking the VSL #3? My son takes the prescription strength VSL#3 twice a day (one dose it's twice the otc amount). He just started on it, the day we were given his diagnosis (Jan 23rd). His dr is hoping the coating of good bacteria will work double --for the colitis, of course, but also to act as a reverse trigger for the PSC (he believes the PSC was triggered by bacteria in the intestine); he is looking for it to 'quiet' the PSC for a time as it has in some of his other patients. So far, it's doing a nice job with the colitis; we find out if it's helping lower liver enzymes when we take our son back in for more blood work the week of the 19th this month. -Meghan, mom to Wyatt (UC & PSC 1/07: FAP 8/01: ?'s?) Guest guest
<My hepatologist didn't want me to take the VSL#3, so I stopped What was his/her concern? My son's Gastroenterologist was intent to try VSL#3 first and has had success with it in other pediatric patients. Is it not as effective in adults maybe or not for later stages? (My son is stage 1 as were his dr's other VSL patients). -Meghan, mom to Wyatt (UC & PSC 1/07: FAP 8/01: ?'s?)
