Guest guest
Hi Doc, Was reading an article this morning and had a question, since you’re the “go to man”, thought I’d ask. Is it possible to vaccinate a person for herpes before transplant? (I know there were several clinical trials going on for a vaccine a couple of years ago). Would/Could a vaccine protect against CMV and shingles, not to mention post-transplant lymphoma? If not, would a maintenance dose of acyclovir be protective? Ken has had canker sores, chicken pox and mono, so he should have some antibodies, but they are going to remove his spleen.…… I’d really like to be proactive rather than reactive.
