Guest guest
Thanks for that . I have found the liver protocol on the TSANZ site, and can probably recite most of it. I have several tumours, and the size criteria is obviously very relevant to me. Because I get bogged down in the size criteria, and also the exclusion criteria of " significant co-morbidities impacting on life expectancy " (I have cvid an immune deficiency, and as a consequence have had non-hogkins lymphoma), I have never made it to the live donor section of the website! Bad me! It really is over whelming sometimes. Take care, Penny T
Guest guest
LDLTs appear to be quite successful, possibly because the patient is typically not as sick. PSC-support's first LDLT was between friends ( and Handi), in June of 2000. There are at least 18 of our members that were transplanted via LDLT. Nearly all of them were related (father, mother, son, sister, brother, cousin, etc.). See http://www.psc-literature.org/livdon.htm for research papers on living donors. Here's a few reputable websites with general information (Mayo, USC, Lahey, Sinai, etc.): http://www.mayoclinic.org/liver-transplant/livingdonorlivertransplant.html http://www.surgery.usc.edu/divisions/hep/livedonorlivertransplant.html http://www.lahey.org/Medical/LiverTransplant/LiveDonor/LiveDonor_Intro.asp http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/27117.php Arne 57 - UC 1977 - PSC 2000 Alive and well in Minnesota ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Lori Regarding these live donors, what is the success rate? Boy, I would imagine with willing live donors the waiting list for liver transplants would be reduced. I don't quite understand how someone can donate only part of a liver and it be as good as a whole liver. This is very interesting and hopeful! Lori A.
