Guest guest
I had a brushing done on Sept. 3rd and on the 10th I met with my Doctor. The Dr. that did the brushings gave me a very good report....not much change in there and he did not think he would see me for 6 months this trip.......WRONG.....Brushings came back showing CCA. Now I am on the road for a transplant and really stunned....Don't know what to think, what to feel.....just numb and scared to death....My Doctor told me they can cure this......need some prayers here I guess....I have to go have a bunch of more test like heart, chest CT, ultrasound of pancreas, gallbladder etc. and others I can't remember.....I have to start chemo and radiation ASAP....Anyone out there been this route? How have you made out? Was chemo by pill or intravenous? so many questions....Will meet with the oncologist and surgeon this week I think.....hope so anyway...want this over as soon as possible.....Guess I just am looking for alittle support. cj psc Feb 08, CCA Sept.
Guest guest
cj, We did this! Most importantly, we made it!!!! Ok, it was hell, but we really did make it. is three months post transplant and back to work, and doing FABULOUS. Trust me, you are sooooo lucky to have had it diagnosed early enough to be considered for transplant. The survival rate jumps from 2-8% to 82%. Really, I'm thrilled for you in a weird, warped, cancer survivor way. There's a support group for cca at cholangiocarcinoma.org. Also, I have a blog from the year we survived treatment at bbfranson.blogspot.com. My email is bbfranson@.... We are here for you, fire away. wife of (psc 94, cca 07, tx 08) Oh, the chemo, xeloda, was IV at the very beginning of radiation, and then oral the rest of the time; 2 weeks on, 1 week off. No hair loss.
