I've not experienced that in the last 6 years of SAMe (or so). Based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Adenosyl_methionine, it does not seem likely.

A more likely explanation is UC/PSC. I don't know what meds you're taking, but metronidasol (Flagyl) can cause tingling

http://www.ccfa.org/info/treatment/antibiotics

Cyclosporine and tacrolimus can also cause tingling (http://www.ccfa.org/info/treatment/immunomodulators)

Although not usually used for UC (primarily Crohn's) anti TNFs (Humira, Remicade, etc.) can also cause tingling (http://www.ccfa.org/info/treatment/biologics).

Presumably, your GI/hepatologist is aware you're taking SAMe?

....So has anyone else experienced something like this when taking SAMe?

I've stopped taking it as of today to see if that may be the cause but

it's also entirely possible it's totally unrelated. Any suggestions?

I presume you have had your glucose levels monitored, diabetes is always a risk especially if you have been on steroids. You will want to rule out neuropathy as a cause of toes tingling. (Sounds like a new dance move.)

Not been on any steroids and blood glucose levels are not on my list

of ordered tests for my next boodwork. But I do see the family doctor

on Monday for an unrelated appointment so I'll mention it to him then.

I was more curious about the SAMe since the documented side effects

seem to be fairly minor according any of the literature I've come across.

Hi Joanne

It should be easy for your family doctor to do a fingerstick blood

sugar test right there in the office. You don't have to be fasting.

It just helps to know when you last ate - e.g. finished breakfast 2

hours ago versus haven't eaten for 4 or 5 hours. And ideally, you

didn't eat a huge Mc's burger, fries and shake an hour before!

I saw the doc this morning but he decided to have me do a series of

blood work looking at everything from glucose (fasting), to lipids,

thyroid, vitamin b12 & folate, and liver function tests. [i think I'll

be feeling a little like I've been visiting a vampire.] As for the

Mcs's meal, I never touch the stuff so no worries there ..... :)

Also, thanks everyone who responded.
