Guest guest
We had an appointment at Vanderbilt yesterday and spoke with the hepatologist. It was our first appointment since all of the tests showed recurrent PSC. He sat and talked with us for a while to see how we were both doing emotionally with this news. I think he should be a psychologist as well as a liver specialist, because he pretty much pegged our personalities. He said I was the " detail oriented, cross every t and dot every i " half of our couple and that is the " laid back, deal with everything as it happens, and do whatever they tell him to " half. Yep, that's pretty much it. He wanted to tell us that they are waiting until his MELD stays around a 20 to relist him. It is a 16 right now. The one piece of news that is keeping me up, worried about the details, is the fact that he said the portal vein thrombosis could possibly cause to not be able to get another transplant. They are going to keep an eye on it. Things are fine with it right now. The question I'm now wishing I had asked, and will possibly call the nurse tomorrow to ask, is could they not get exception points from UNOS and retransplant him now, while we know the portal vein has not caused any other problems? Why wait? Is this possible? Am I grasping at straws? Thanks everyone! wife of UC & PSC 2000 J pouch 2004 Tx 11-18-06 rPSC 5-
