Guest guest
Gees, Mark! You're kidding, right? You actually log each use of your pen? There's a word for people like you!! I'd say, if you have 7 clicks remaining, you've got 7 units left. I use my pens down to the last click (well, I'll throw away 1, or 2 units, but no more than that). And I get the dose I expected. Guest guest
Well do to the fact my dose was always changing there for 3 months, I found it was very helpful to keep track daily so I would always know where the pen was in units remaining. not going to pitch out any insulin if I can help it though. was going to pitch it in the trash and start my last 70 30 novelog mix flex pen, but if you say those extra clicks means more insulin? well not I going to argue with the expert who should know. wonder if it is bad for a person though if they thought the pen had insulin left in it and they was only actually sticking them self with nothing more then air. I wouldn't think it would hurt. well of course your sugar may not go down as it should, but other then that it should be ok. I never tried it on a new pen, but will it actually click out say 50 or 100 clicks before it stops? I know it won't come out for all 300 cause the pen isn't as long as a yard stick! here is a flex pen q for you. my records show my flex pen is empty or should be if there is actually 300 units like they say. my pen still has 7 clicks left. now should I assume it is empty and pitch it or could it actually be there is seven more units in the pen? can't stand the thought of waste my self. every unit I get, is one less unit I got to pay for in the long run. just goes all over me to think I might throw away seven more units. seems like this happens with all my flex pens so far. seems like when my records show my pen should be empty, there is still seven or five clicks left. now it could be possible that I didn't use exactly the amount I should have in day's gone by, but I would have to make a mistake in order for this to happen and I don't make mistakes! one time I thought I may have been wrong, but I was mistaking instead. Guest guest
I think the pens do have a limit for a single injection, but not sure. All I can say is, I've used the last of the pen's insulin many, many times, and have never observed higher blood sugar readings following. At least, not for any other reason than I might normally have a high reading.
