Uncomfortable issue - Halitosis

I feel like a bit of a voyeur, I have been a member of the PSC

support group since last October; I have posted only a couple of

messages, but frequently read the postings. I feel very fortunate

for where I am in the entire process and I am becoming more aware of

the issues that I may have to face in the future and it is all due

to everyone sharing your trials and tribulations. I want to say

thank you for that.

I have been pretty asymptomatic to date (knock on wood - or whatever

may else help!)

Although this is a relatively embarrassing issue, I feel that this

is the best place to ask the question. I have been to see my

doctor, and have mentioned it to other people in the medical field,

and no one seems to take me very seriously and that is the issue of

halitosis. They have implied that it could be my imagination!

Trust me, it is not!

I have good oral hygiene, I actively floss, brush, etc., but I know

that I get extreme halitosis. It is not due to garlic, etc, but

it seems to be coming from inside my body. It is starting to make

me very self conscious and it is directly affecting my work life,

and more importantly, how I show affection to my wife.

I think that it is directly connected to my digestion. My self

diagnosis says that my altered digestion is backing up into stomach

and I am getting breath that smells of fecal matter. What makes

matters worse, is that I can't tell when it is happening or not.

I was hoping that someone else may have dealt with this issue and

could advise me, so that I could " educate " my doctor or move to some

home remedy solution.

In many of the medical books that are available, it only seems to

say that bad breath can be a sign of other issues internally. Still,

no help to me.

I feel a little embarrassed posting such an insignificant issue,

compared to the issues that many of you are staring down.

Best of luck to everyone who reads this and thanks for any replies.

For all of you who post on a regular basis and only get a reply or

two, please know that there are many other people that read and

benefit from your postings.

Thanks,

Vancouver Island, Canada
