Guest guest
After saying I was only a lurker, this is my 4th post of the day! Also Arne, sorry for the double posting... my laptop went crazy and I lost this message... trying to retrieve I hit refresh and it somehow resent my message from 20 minutes ago instead?? A bit of recent history... I have been feeling very tired and rundown for quite awhile, some days it was hard to get out of bed... it's as if I have blocks of concrete on my feet. I have missed quite a bit of work this year. I've just chalked it up that I am probably starting to show symptoms of PSC. Since I have an appointment scheduled for August with my hep, I've just been waiting for that. In anticipation for this visit I have already had bloodwork done and an MRCP back in April. Almost a month ago I started to have nausea and when I felt the lymph nodes behind my ears swollen, I made an appointment with my primary care physician. I saw her about 3 weeks ago and told her my symptoms. She said the lymph nodes in my neck were very swollen... she mentioned the possiblity of mono. She gave me a presciption for anti-nausea medication and ordered bloodwork and an ultrasound of my liver, pancreas and gallbladder. I got a call a couple days later regarding my bloodwork... I was told I had recently been exposed to mono and my potassium and calcium were very low. I was given a presciption for potassium pills that I was to take for 7 days and then have more bloodwork done. I also am now taking OTC Calcium with Vitamin D. I wasn't clear what " recently been exposed to mono " meant so I called back and asked did I have mono. The nurse said I " did " have mono and now my body was trying to repair itself?? Two days later I could barely sit at work and in fact had to keep alternating kneeling on one knee to the next... It finally got too painful, causing me to almost vomit and pass out so I left work early. I suspect that was from the low potassium as it has not returned. I had my ultrasound done and received a call again from my primary care office telling me I had one gallstone and was referred to a surgeon (I see him on Monday 8/4). I had my second appointment with my primary care doc today and she had the findings from my ultrasound. There is something regarding my liver that I am unclear of, if it is something to be concerned about. I have a copy of the findings so I will be taking that with me to my appointment with my hep on 8/5. I'm quoting here: " Findings: The liver is normal in size. Within the hepatic parenchyma adjacent to the gallbladder, there is a homogenously hyperechoic 1.2cm nodule. Within the hepatic dome, there is a 1.7cm homogenously hyperechoic nodule. These nodules are most compatible with benign cavernous meningiomas. Mobile echogenic 1cm gallstone is present in the gallbladder. There is no gallbladder wall thickening or pericholecystic fluid. Common hepatic duct measures 4mm. Pancreas is obscured by bowel gas. Impression: Cavernous hemangiomas within liver. Intraluminal gallstone. " (End quote) My primary care doc said to make sure I inform the surgeon (for the gallbladder) about the liver findings. I have a copy of the report for him and my hep. Does anyone have any experience with cavernous hemangiomas within the liver? Is this common or should I be concerned? Also what about the nodules? I searched online and am unclear... can these hemangiomas rupture and bleed? Thank you for any input you can offer and also wanted to thank you all for this list... it truly is a lifesaver! Oh, and sorry for the novel! Kim PSC 2004 UC 1982
