Guest guest
Amy! It's so good to hear from you and get an update. It's encouraging to hear the Ampyra is helping. I knew it helped with walking but I didn't know it also could help with vision! Exciting!!Oh, yes, the germy kids and even worse the thoughtless parents who send them out to infect others. When my children were small I stayed home with them and ran a home day care. I was sick from those kids so much. When I went to my doctor once I complained that I was sick every fall after school started. He said "Are you a teacher?" lol I know the poor teachers have to deal with so much illness. I hate to be sick. I am a very poor sport when I'm ill:)hugs to you SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. When I was teaching elementary I used to average 4 maybe 5 feverish illnesses a school year because the sweet little dears would love to hug me or touch my hands in some way. But I can't completely escape it at the middle/high school. It's funny you wrote this because last week I noticed a 6th grade student of mine being very lethargic and not much into her work which is totally not like this kid. So I pulled her aside and asked her what was going on. As soon as the words left my mouth the poor kid burst into tears and told me she had strep throat. Trying not to get too freaked I thought she's probably on antibiotics. So I asked her calmly if she was taking them. The poor girl blubbered a little and said mom was picking them up at the pharmacy for her when she gets out of school. Now I ask, what was mom thinking? Strep throat is highly contagious not to mention the poor girl felt so awful she was crying. Thoughtlessness about illness just runs rampant I guess and we all pay for it. I myself was pretty safe from getting anything from the kid because I'm currently on antibiotics for a sinus infection. I now average around 2 big illnesses a school year because big kids tend to wash their hands and keep them to themselves. So Let me just applaud your soapbox speech! Keep those sick kids home! I'm still here and doing fine by the way, no flares for over a year now. Ampyra ended up being a nice drug for me at least. I got a little of the vision in my right eye back because of it. It's not much and I'm still legally blind in that eye but it makes me happy. But working my teacher tail off and looking forward to summer! Amy Last winter I was at Walmart. A little boy of about 3 saw me and held out his hand to me. I took his little hand and said "how are you?". He said "I sick" then I noticed the snotty nose--extremely snotty nose. And I was holding the little guy's HAND! Geez. I extracted my hand and he said "go home with you". He was so sick and I guess he figured any gramma would take him home instead of making him shop. Shame on his momma. His mom made him come away and I went around the corner and doused my hand with sanitizer. The I went straight to the restroom and scrubbed up like I was going into surgery. I can't stand being sick!I feel so angry with moms who drag such sick little kids out. I guess it's different if mom has to go to an appointment but they shouldn't take them shopping. When I'm sick I want to stay home and be comfortable and children aren't any different. Okay...climbing off my soapbox! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Many ladys are simply flat-lined and despondent and it shows in the handling and maintenance of them and their kids. I am glad we can help keep them propped up but know they leave and go back out to a life that is so difficult. I've had kids in there that were literally making a pool of snot on the floor below them, and a probably 4 yr old that reeked of urine so badly and wanted to play at my reception desk. I absolutely love the little ones that come in that are clean! I actually wipe the entire desk area, handles and chair and computer stuff too down with disinfectant before the day starts...just ewww. I love my kids but am not a "kid person" per say. My mom babysat little ones until her mid 50's so you'd think I'd be able to do it...nope. One year and found it to be such a bother and ugh that I started a pet sitting practice instead to make some income, and went back to school. so funny.Dee
