Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I also had/have liver problems though not as serious as yours sound. I've gotten a lot of help from eating a diet high in fresh veggies and fruits and doing vegetable juices and taking antioxidants (NAC, Molybedenum). When these things were first suggested to me they sounded far too simplistic but I have to say, they've made a big difference. I've notice that since my liver has started to clear chelation rounds effect me differently. I can feel the effect of the DMSA/ALA more (mercury moving) and I'm guessing it's because the mercury can now move through the detox pathways more easily. Now, if I go for even a day without lots of veggies I feel starved. I'm not sure if this helps but I hope so, :^) Alessa Gallstones/Liver - Andy Posted by: " Joanne " wannabe3999@... wannabe3999 Tue May 8, 2007 8:10 am (PST) I'm really struggling with a lack of guidance in the books and files on serious congestion & inflammation issues right now. Yesterday, after Ultrasound results, I was put through a " Hidascan " (sp? Heidascan?) - which took almost two hours & required both a radioactive injection & another injection for observing liver/gallbladder function. I fully expect to be told I have a duodenal ulcer & inflammation (which would be very old & I find was overlooked by doctors years ago), blocked bile ducts, and gallbladder blockage. There are large liver tumors, too, which were found in '03. Since I need lots of digestive enzymes, pancreatic function probably is weak. I was told to expect endoscope-type testing & perhaps one other procedure, and have suspected I have Crohn's for some time. The books offer very little information on situations like this. I don't want to think about surgery/hospitaliza tion, which we are to avoid. And I REALLY don't want to be injected or knocked out with any more toxins. I'm very chemical sensitive and sensitive to many foods & phenolic compounds. On the other hand, the books tell us not to do gallstone/liver cleases. I am certain the accelerated movement of mercury and other toxins from my liver caused my duodenum/upper small intestine to flare up. I was at 12 mg ALA/50mg DMSA, and 2-3 days off round when things really blocked up. I've lost ten pounds in the last two weeks and won't have much left to go on if this continues. I'm not on cortisol & don't have access to a doctor comfortable with this. I've supplemented with Isocort since January, but it contains lactase & lactose. Dairy has been a life-long problem, but I haven't identified what the problem is other than NAET testing confirming sensitivity. I feel as STUCK with chelation as my liver is STUCK with junk. What is appropriate from here? Thanks for any guidance. My doctor is very willing to listen to suggestions you might relay. Could I ask her to call you? Guest guest
Alessa, thanks so much for sharing this with me. When I added ALA I was immediately aware of liver congestion going down, but then I think it started working too well & freed up a bunch of stones. Although I'm waiting for test results from my doctor, I could see the duct blockages on the ultrasound. I only had 4-5 rounds of very low dose ALA. Also, the liver congestion was rebuilding within a few days after each round. I've had to eat as you do, and take the supplements, for many years. When I don't, I really fall apart. Right now, I feel like chelation was working too well! I'll plan on going ahead and doing procedures to test for Crohn's if my doctor agrees, because I also suspect these problems reflect an autoimmune/inflammatory reaction to mercury coming through my liver due to ALA. Whatever I do learn, I hope it will provide helpful info for others. Joanne > I've notice that since my liver has started to clear chelation rounds effect me differently.
