Guest guest
My husband had his second ERCP today. The first one took 2 hours and today's took less than 30 minutes. The doctor decided he didn't want to brush the ducts for cancer because he didn't want to do any damage. He said that there was more duct involvement than the first time and some narrowing but no strictures. He said he saw no reason for the raised bilirubin numbers or the yellow eyes. I asked about the gallbladder being distended and he brushed me off. He was sent home an hour after the procedure when the first time he was monitored for almost 3 hours. His doctor told me he would be there the same amount of time as the first but the nurses said just poke him and sit him up and send him home. I am wondering what I should be watching for. I am wondering if this was a normal ercp or should I be concerned that maybe he didn't get good care. I like his doctor, he is a gastro, but I am wondering if he is getting treated correctly or if I should look around for some other opinions. The doctor told me about a new technique that he could do that would look right into the bile duct but he decided he didn't want to do it this time. Am I overreacting? I don't know what to do, I am so confused. wife to Rick- Crohns, PSC, Spondyloarthropathy
