I have UC and have been on the diet since November last year, after experiencing my first major flare during the spring/summer of that year. I'll admit that I sort of jumped in, cutting things out, but never did a systematic intro followed by the phasing in of new foods. My main symptom is bloody stools, sometimes a little, sometimes more, but usually present. I've had a few days/weeks here and there without any at all, but it seems to return after a period of time. I haven't had any other symptoms for a long time, except occasional rumbliness. My main question is - BTVC says to wait xxx amount of months after symptoms have cleared to introduce certain foods. And then other places it says to wait until D has cleared. So should I be waiting until the bleeding clears up for a significant amount of time before starting to add new food? Or should I just start over with the intro for 3-5 days, then start adding foods one by one, regardless of the bleeding and just watch for other symptoms/increased amount of blood? Thank you all in advance for sharing your experiences. This as certainly been an adventure, and I'm grateful for a husband who eats whatever I eat, as long as there is a supply of pizza rolls and cereal in the house I can't imagine not having his support.
