Terry - one more thing I forgot ot mention, and then , I agree, since this is OT

- we should to off list, or if Mariyn allows, stay under this topic heading.

My situation is a bit unique; we don't compare, but my sons' case their bio,

physical and emotional development, there are signs that are worth noting. Here

to compare has only helped me present info to our doc, and treat each one of us

uniquiely:

My sons' are D. and L.

My sons are both adopted; they are not bio related to each other or

myself/husband.

Both attend the same school.

D. has no DX but klebsiella and mild candida bacterial overgrowth, and is one

month older than L.

L. has ADHD DX + odd yeasts, primarily candida overgrowth

When Strep goes on at school:

D. gets the " typical " symptoms including high fever, sore throat, and tests ++

throat culture.

L. gets neuro supmtoms as described below, never a fever, never a sore throat.

Had a history of fungal diaper rashes DC by the conventional ped.

The times we treated for Strep using antibiotics, it was always " precautionary "

(this being before I became a student of natural medicine and healing, gluten

free and casein free diets, and in general eating for healing and nutritional

purposes which has taken place only in the past 12 months!!)

D. would present with signs, so we would go to our conventional ped. He would

test + for throat Strep, L. would not. The ped would RX antibiotics because if

D. has it then " L will get it too " . And this was our cycle from ages 10 and 11

months when we brought them home from Kazakhstan, until their third birthdays

and GFCF DX came into play in June of 08. ALWAYS following the cycle of

antibiotics, we had severe neuro symptoms - so much so that our early

intervention therapists considered ASD DX for L. With L., we consider the " tic "

at his young age to be the OCD behaviors . . .

So, not to beat a dead horse, but now, with our adherence to SCD eliminating

LOTS of other possible causes, and with our ND's blessing, we really feel that

the PANDAS has merits here, especially in light of our own anecdotal notations

between both boys. I think you are on the right track to re-examine.

And thanks always for your support; your empathy means a lot. It is quite a

challenge tailoring SCD for 3 of us individually, and teaching myself the

practice of medicine at the same time :)!!

Best as always,

Kim in NJ, SBS due to bowel resection Feb 03

2 4 yr olds, ADHD/SPD, leaky gut, k.oxytoca, candida

Transitioned to SCD from GFCF Nov/Dec 08

All SCD Jan 1/09
