Hi All,I'm new here but have been looking at posts the past month or so. My daughter was dx with severe undifferentiated IBD (pancolitis, GI leaning towards Crohns) 5-07. She has been SCD since 11-08 after meds did not help and caused major side effects, it was our last hope to keep her off of Remicade and has so far been successful in that. We've posted on Pecanbread at different times but I am hoping someone here may have some different ideas/suggestions.We have followed pecanbread stages, however have not progressed past stage 1/2 foods although it's been 20 mos. now. We have seen lots of improvements (bleeding stopped, frequency/urgency decreased "only" 4-6x/day now, joint pain stopped, lots more energy, terrific gains in growth. However, we've been feeling "stuck" with regards to variety/nutrition. I'm

scared to try adding much more in since obviously her system is still not in the greatest shape, but she is getting really frustrated eating the same few things (and some of those she really doesn't tolerate all that well.)My biggest concern is vegetables. I still remove any onion or garlic used in cooking. Carrots (cooked 4 hrs.) and green beans (french cut cooked 1 hr.) are the only ones she's eaten regularly and they still come through undigested. Because of this we discontinued the carrots except small amounts in soup. If I assume this means the beans should go to, I need some other ideas. In the past we've had the same results when trying spinach and asparagus (she would only eat them in soup). We tried the zucchini noodles and she thought they were disgusting. She will occasionally eat squash buttons with butternut squash, loves squash fries but they increase D. She will not eat pureed

vegetables and won't eat soup in the summer. Is it okay to take a break from all vegetables to see if that will help the healing process? She used to love peas and raw vegies (especially cucumber), but that doesn't seem wise considering where her digestive system is at. Any ideas that might be well tolerated, not impede further healing, and be palatable to an 11 yr old would be great.Fruits are also stuck in a rut: every morning it's well-cooked peaches in yogurt and banana/egg or banana/pecan butter pancakes. Later in the day it's homemade chunky applesauce (doesn't like pear sauce--too sweet.) She doesn't seem to tolerate pineapple unless it's cooked and blended in small amounts in a smoothie. She eats 1/2 an avacado in a smoothie too if she's not flaring up at all. Once again she always loved fresh fruits, especially berries (but those scare me since they are listed as so advanced.)

I'm concerned that she is eating too much fruit and would like her to eat more vegetables, but at least we don't see the undigested pieces with fruit. We have a huge garden and she gets so frustrated not being able to eat anything out of it.Any suggestions on fruits/veggies that may be better tolerated or add in some variety would be appreciated. Thanks,DawnMom to Hannah, SCD 20 mos.
