From what I've heard IAOMT dentists are not using rubber dams during removal anymore. Is this accurate? Thanks, Dean

She said that mercury can pass through the rubber and possibly trap the mercury on the opposite side causing exposure. Instead she packed the area with lots of cotton and changed it throughout. I am really happy with the work she did. -Olif

They used the dam to stop any chunks from going anywhere, but the aspirator was right there too to suck up the chunks and shavings. My dentist said that he purposely tried to break it off in chunks. I held a high suction whole office system vacuum up to my chin while they worked to get any chunks that didn't get sucked up by the aspirator and to remove any and all vapors. I had no problems from my removals. la> >
Guest guest
They should be. As far as I know, if they don't they should be using an attachment on the drill called a " Clean Up " . This has a vacuum suction right on it to suck up the vapors. Mine used a dam and a clean up. I would ask them to use one if they dont normally. You don't want to eat any fragments of amalgam. > > > > If you can't find one from www.iaomt.org try asking in the Autism > > Mercury or Adult-Metal yahoo groups.
