The only way to know if the adrenals are healed and can function

appropriately without support is to do trials of slowly lowering the

dose and see how you feel. This may be difficult to test with time

release formula. With Cortef it is easy to just lower the dose by 2.5

mg, hold there for a couple of weeks, and then lower by another 2.5 mg

(and increase back to maintenance dose if the adrenals are not

responding).

Most sources that I am aware of say that it is ok to use 20 mg or less

of hydrocortisone for long term if the person needs it. It is best to

use the lowest dose that feels the best - which would be difficult to

determine with a time release formula.

It is not possible to predict how long chelation will take. Chelation

is different for different people.
