Guest guest
Okay, Life's been too good, I guess. I was just thinking this weekend how good my daughter Libby has been feeling....then she called about an hour ago, crying that her stomach was killing her. She has a pretty high threshold for pain and I knew this had to be bad if she was calling me crying. Im two hours south of her so I can't help but I told her to either call 911 or get her boyfriend to drive her to the ER. She moved to LA a year ago for grad school but has been driving back home (San Diego) for Hep visits, not having needed to get a doctor up there. Between the two of us we don't even know what the good hospitals are in LA or where they are in relation to her apartment. Ugh. So now, is this what a cholangitis attack is? Libby doesn't have an appendix, her gall bladder was removed...she doesn't have UC or IBD. She said the pain was like what it was when she had a gall bladder attack (we thought she was having a heart attack!) She had a stomach ache earlier this morning...but she wasn't surprised by that. If she has something too fatty or doesn't drink enough fluids she will get the upper right quadrant pain. She was in Philadelphia over the weekend shooting the US Woman's soccer game and I KNOW she probably wasn't doing a good job of keeping herself hydrated.... and flying always kills her. Anyway, she took a half vicidin (which usually does the trick) but the pain progressively got worse and then she threw up. THAT's when she called me. Of course, all she could think of was that she has two internship interviews this afternoon (Im thinking she is stressed out by that also)....Her boyfriend Dash just called. He drove her to Cedar-Sinai. They have her checked in and are waiting. Im going nuts. Ive never felt so helpless. I don't know if calling her doctor down here will help. Oh, boy. I just need to vent with people who know what Im going through. My husband's response to all of this was to give me a kiss and leave for work. THe poor guy can't handle this at all. Thanks for letting me vent... Mom to Libby, 23 years old (psc 03)and the absolutely greatest kid on the planet.
