R' " Doc " Borenstein Ret.    Subject: Operation Lone Star 2010 To: " texasems-l " texasems-l > Date: Saturday, January 16, 2010, 11:14 PM  For the last several years, Texas State Guard Medical Brigade(TxSG) , Texas National Guard(TXNG), Naval/Airforce Reserve, and several other agencies have provided free medical services for the citizens of the Rio Grande Valley - under the leadership of TDSHS. This event is known as Operation Lone Star(OLS). Due to TxNG personnel shortages - OLS '10 is in need of EMTs, paramedics, RNs, pharmacy staff, dental staff. and physicians to volunteer. The dates for OLS '10 will be the last week in July and the first week in August . OLS '10 will be provided in Rio Grande Valley border communities. Volunteers will have lodging and meals provided. OLS is a great volunteer opportunity. OLS also provides a unique opportunity to practice and observe surge capacity medicine. EMS Education Coordinators might consider this as a community health clinical rotation for paramedic students. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in volunteering for any part of OLS '10 - please contact me off list. Thanks, Capt.
