Progress Report on

DSHS TRISA Project

(EMS/Trauma Registry Improvement System Assessment Project)

And Other Registry Business

June, 2009

TRISA

MTG Management Consultants continue to meet with stakeholders around the

state to gather requirements for a new EMS/trauma registry system.

Attendance has averaged about twenty people in each location. Seven

sessions have been conducted thus far. The Midland/Odessa meeting will

be on July 6, the El Paso meeting will be on July 7, and the wrap-up

meeting in Austin will be held on July 13th. For details on the

remaining meetings, refer to our website at

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/injury/

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/injury/> .

To gather data on best practices, MTG also plans to visit two or three

other states with EMS/trauma registry systems and conduct telephone

surveys with several other states. These efforts reflect DSHS intentions

to replace the current registry with a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf)

product, tailored to fit the needs of Texas. To ensure appropriate

attention to the technical aspects of an ideal system, MTG Consultants

may add if needed a technical session that includes DSHS IT and

stakeholder experts.
