The 2012 National Survey on Abuse of People with Disabilities This survey was developed by The Arc of Riverside County and the Disability and Abuse Project of Spectrum Institute. Although scientific studies on the prevalence of such abuse were done more than a decade ago, this is the first survey of its kind -- one that asks people with disabilities and their families about their own personal experiences as victims of abuse and about how their situations were handled by authorities. It is also the first national survey to assess the attitudes, opinions, and knowlege of advocates, service providers, law enforcement personnel, and others, about how investigative and prosecutorial agencies and the judicial system respond to cases involving the abuse of victims with disabilities.
