If it was me I would probably try it just to hopefully avoid losing a tooth if you have to go to plan B (ie root canal which means extraction) It sounds like the dentist is willing to try something (the zinc and clove oil) to make it work but it sounds like its a crap shoot as to whether this will work or not.
