I wanted to make yogurt from heavy cream. I looked at the heavy creams here at the supermarkets in Canada and ALLLLL of them in addition to cream and milk have guar gum, carrageenan, carboxymethyl cellulose, carob bean gum.......WTF! Even the half/half and table cream and all of that have these illegals too. Where can I get some decent heavy cream with not so many illegals (in Canada)? Bummer. I couldn't find heavy cream w/o those in US either, and frankly, when I used it BEFORE checking the ingredients (didn't occur to me, surprisingly) the yogurt was jacked up. I use organic valley and trader joes brand organic half and half which makes AMAZING THICK yogurt. Whole foods and TJ's is where I get this, Lowes food and Food lion didn't have squat. Not sure about Canada though. Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa 15UC 1 year-ishSCD 2 weeks-ish (restarted)No meds!!!

buy " Organic Meadow " heavy cream, with the only ingredient being organic cream.

I purchase it in the organic section of my local Superstore, it's pricier than

the brands with all the illegal additives at $5.79 for a 1/2 pint size carton

but it was a relief when I eventually found it. I, too, searched the regular

dairy section in all of my local grocery stores without success when my son

first started SCD. If you have a local store with an organic dairy section you

should have success there.

Thanks, I'm in Montreal unfortunately. I looked at the organic section of

several grocery stores but with no luck. I'll try and search for that organic

meadow brand though, thanks.

Hi Cindy:

Do you ferment that organic heavy cream to make yogurt? I tried doing this with

the heavy cream I had (which had the illegals) and it turned out very weird - it

doesn't seem like it worked. Does your organic meadow heavy cream work?

Thanks,

B
