Guest guest Posted May 11, 2008 Report Share Posted May 11, 2008 , The pain could have several causes, but the most likely, given your PSC diagnosis, is cholangitis caused by a bile duct blockage. If you also have fever or chills, go to the ER - you probably need to be treated for an infection. If it is just pain, it depends on the severity. If it was severe I would seek some help (ERCP with ballooning or other techniques to get the blockage removed), mild intermittent pain I would wait for it to pass and maybe ask my doctor for meds to ease the pain. Since your pain seem to be constant, it may not resolve on its own. If you can wait until tomorrow discuss it with your doctor's office then. Otherwise be prepared to do a lot of waiting in an ER.
