Guest guest
Hi Lori, Ken takes 200mg of Xifaxan 3 times a day (600mg daily). He takes it instead of Lactulose, to keep encephalopathy at bay. His ammonia levels remain high (115+), but he hasn’t been bothered at all with HE. While your dosage sounds high, Xifaxan only works in the intestinal tract, so if your doctor is trying to quite problems there, the higher dose is probably needed. You can always ask him why he prescribed that dose. HTH Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight, Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
Thanks Barb- I thought my rx was for 600 mg a day and I usually pay close attention so I guess I will be calling on Monday to see if 1200 mg is the correct dose. It just seemed high when my 11 year old- who needs a high dose was only on 400 mg a day. Hope Ken is feeling ok Lori Lori > > Hi Lori, > > Ken takes 200mg of Xifaxan 3 times a day (600mg daily). Guest guest
Hi Lori -- delayed response. Quantell's xifaxan matches Braden's -- 200 mg. BID. Sounds like " Little Dude " passed " Big Dude " though, Q was down to 72 lbs. last week.
