It’s the type of thing that I would think a drugstore should sell without a prescription, but I’m not sure if that’s the case. Ask your pharmacist if it’s necessary to have a prescription for (sterile) acetic acid or acetic acid solution for use in ears. (There’s a version also used to control bladder infections.) Incidentally, this is an old-time remedy for earaches that still works really well, but that therefore some young doctors have never heard of (because it’s been replaced by antibiotics in a lot of cases)! Acetic acid is a main ingredient in vinegar, but vinegar is not sterile. You can use it in your ears; I’ve done it, but I suggest diluting it a bit, and heating it enough to kill off unwanted bacteria, then cooling it before you use it.
