Guest guest
FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE WINTER CAMP, AN ACTION PACKED FOUR DAYS OF FUN FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS For those of us that think teens are selfish, lazy and unmotivated... think again! While their friends go to on vacation, their siblings hang by the pool, and their classmates watch the latest movies, a group of local teens decide to do something very different with their winter break. Over 20 teenagers in the North Broward and South Palm Beach area have already registered to volunteer at the Friendship Circle's annual Winter Camp. It is during these 4 days that children with special needs get the opportunity to be apart of and taste the Jewish camp experience. With constant one on one attention from our extraordinary volunteers, the children will enjoy music, arts & crafts, special performances and exciting trips, such as American Twisters, The Girls Strawberry Patch, Young At Art Museum, Personal Ponies and much more. The Friendship Circle of North Broward & South Palm Beach's Winter Camp will take place from Monday, December 31st until Thursday, January 3rd 2013. This action packed day begins at 10:00am until 3:00pm, and is based out of the Chabad of Parkland, 7170 Loxahatchee Rd, Parkland, 33067. In addition to the field trips, we provide the children with an array of social, motor and cognitive skill building, masked by fun, creative and recreational activities. While directed and coordinated by a staff of teachers, professionals and a behavioral therapist, the vitality of the entire camp experience is driven by the teenage volunteers. After all, these particular teenagers are no strangers to the children on whose behalf they joyfully give of their free time and energy throughout the year. The Winter Camp is a setting in which the bond between volunteer and child becomes that much more animated and pronounced. In an environment permeated completely with laughter, music and invigorating spirit - during bus rides, activities, and at fun Florida attractions - the volunteers have yet another dimension through which to connect with these special children.
