Guest guest
Hi All, Just to let you know that we had the doc appt yesterday but he couldn't answer any of our questions! I was so disheartened But Brad came out of it okay which is the main thing. The main thing he did was put Brad back on Azathioprine stating that the last thing he needs right now is a relapse of UC as the last time it happened he ended up in hospital for three weeks and nearly lost his colon. Good thinking, I guess. The doc said we'll have to ask Brad's new doc, who is the head of gastro at The Alfred snd specialises in liver disease (that's hopeful ). The new doc is also going to re-test his liver biopsy from a few months ago, as the PSC didn't show up to the two pathologists that looked at it initially. Brad's going in there for a routine colonoscopy for the UC and his first ever gastroscopy (woopee!) to check for esophegal varices (spelling?) and has decided to take most of the week off to deal with it all and have a little time with the fams. So hopefully we can get an appt with the doc during that time. One good thing is that although the doc said Brad's diagnosis and subsequent prognosis were 'unfortunate', Brad is able to laugh, if not with a little tear in his eye. I got another laugh out of him by sharing the results of the Mayo Score thingy - I put a '0' in the wrong spot and his prognosis came back (I kid you not!) 'Infinity'. So 'prognosis unfortunate' vs 'prognosis infinity' is a bit of an in- house joke at the mo and thought you guys might get a laugh out of it too Once again, thanks for letting me share the story to date Cheers, Kate
Guest guest
Hi , It does seem like he's in good hands - at least it would if we could get a darn appointment! I have already called this morning and have been told that the one day we would normally be able to get the appointment, the doctor won't be not in. Very frustrating. And the nurse wasn't very understanding - how do you explain that your husband is depressed about his diagnosis (and his wifer is fretting like crazy)and we want to know what the heck is going on? Still trying... Cheers > > Hi Kate > Thanks for the update on Brad.
