Guest guest
Hi there, I've noticed that several people refer to their blood work tests to describe improvements in their condition for IBD. Could people that have these tests done please inform me as to what tests they are using? I'd like to get some blood testing done to see how my Crohn's is doing but my doctor doesn't prescribe any tests. Can the blood tests assess inflammation? Thanks,
Guest guest
Majority of markers for inflammation in blood are not specific to crohn's or UC, however I always ask to check platelets ( bleeding) , C-reactive protein ( marker for inflammation) and protein in serum (so I ask for CBC and chemistry tests). I notice when I am in remission my platelets go down to 290 and when I am sick - up to 400-500. The same for C-reactive protein ( when I had a flair the number went up to 162!!!) now I am 0.2 and serum protein is normal. Guest guest
AJ, you request this as a patient or are you a doctor? What is the SED rate--don't they use that and do the pred thing? They must not check my platelets because they always clump? Debbie 40 cd
