Eurocuisine yogurt maker question

Does anyone use this type of machine?

I made two batches of yogurt yesterday.  I've had the Eurocuisine a long time.  I've had trouble with the yogurt turning out.

One batch is in the Salton 1qt. and the other is in the Eurocuisine (7 small glass jars).  The top of the euro isn't steamed and covered in condensation--it's more like wet, droppy but you can see through it.  I can remember it being steamed to the point of having to lift the lids to check it.  So if you have this machine, what does the top look like--maybe that's why the yogurt isn't working.

My yogourmet starter expired June 21 2010 which is pretty close.  Usually the exp date is really far out.  Could that have anything to do with it not working.

Both machines are on a power strip now.

I think I'm going to have to get a new yogurt maker anyway but any fb on the euro is welcome.

Thanks,
