Hi everyone,

On Thursday morning, I thought I looked a little yellow under the

lights in my bathroom, but ignored it as I tend to overanalyze.

Friday morning I thought I was yellow again, as I was racing to get

ready as we packed up our car to leave for vacation. Sitting in the

car as we were traveling, in direct sunlight, I examined my skin and--

Holy Cow!--I really was yellow. Compared myself to everyone I could,

and I wasn't (and am still not) looking too normal.

When we arrived at our destination, one of our dear friends who

vacationed with us (a nurse) said to CALL MY DOCTOR, I was more

yellow than I thought. I got on the phone immediately with my

hepatologist's office (Friday, 4:00 p.m., natch) and talked to a

nurse; based on my most recent bloodwork being normal and being out

of town, she told me some things to watch for and said to call back

when we were home to schedule some bloodwork.

We just arrived home, and I was on the phone with doctor's offices

and labs on the way. I'm scheduled for 8 a.m. for bloodwork and,

with as orange as I have gotten this weekend, I am afraid it's going

to be ug.ly.

My questions, now, for you folks who have so much more experience

than I.... What, exactly, does becoming jaundiced indicate? Is this

necessarily indicative of disease progression, or could it be

something else? Why would it happen so quickly? What is the

treatment protocol for jaundice, or will I just be yellow for

awhile? Is there ANYTHING I can do on my own, to help the yellow

fade? This freaky yellow reptile-eyed look is not that becoming on

me.... :)

Thanks all for your thoughts. Going to Google now....
