Hi,

I would also like to know about this. I am helping a friend w/Chiari and

she is currently waiting for approval from Blue Cross for more PT. I would

like to appeal the decision should it be denied.

Thank you very much.

I believe Chiari cannot advance from one Type to another. But you can be

Misdiagnosised with one Type but have another, I think. lol

Hi Kat,

Welcome to the group. My situation was about the same as yours is now. I'm

so sorry you're going through this.

Before my surgery, I was in very bad shape. I'm talking about, barely able

to get a sentence out straight, in more pain than I thought possible to

withstand and an array of other problems.

Now, three years post op, I'm doing much, much better. In most cases things

get better. There are still things that are left over, but nothing like

before.

A little fear is healthy for you, just don't let it keep you from doing what

you need to do.

All my best wishes go with you to your appointment.

Hello Wildfire-

As a new person who has spent the last four years researching various disorders

that I've been diagnosed with, I want to say something.

Reading articles and web sites about any disorder can become very confusing.

Even though a person has read the material, it doesn't always " sink in " . Thus,

asking questions is a way of sorting out all the information and figuring out

what applies to a particular situation. This is one reason WHY support groups

exist. :)

I run two on line support groups. I know a lot about both disorders. I never

get tired of answering the same questions over and over, even though the

information is in our FAQ and on the internet. I know what it is like to be a

new person overwhelmed by information. :)

Add to that, the headaches, the fatigue, the pain and it is even harder to try

to figure out what you want to know.

I've been on many email lists--including ASAP and many others. This group runs

more smoothly than ANY email list I've ever been on! People here do a lot of

messages via private email, thus leaving the list cleaner. I applaud the

members of this group and the moderators!

NO ONE IN THE GROUP IS 90, ARE THEY?

Just in the knees, like you. My 15 mo. old grandson does better on the stairs than I do!

It is, at least, nice and warm here in NJ today! Almost 60 degrees. And, the sun is out which makes me feel a bit better..

Hugs,

Jo

This is a sad experience all the way around for everyone, I have worked in EMS

for 28 years and have worked with law enforcement from Texas DPS, to SO and SO

reserve officers to PD and Constables. I have had problems where our

jobs crossed paths but nothing like this. The whole things boils down to what I

see as a lot of errors on every ones part. The OHP Officer went looking for a

confrontation and got one. In my opinion he should be disciplined for use of

excessive force, receive counseling for anger management and have to retrain

with a FTO. Trooper should not be fired and yes people he is a hero for

serving in our armed forces. Medic White and Medic along with the patient

and her family deserve an public apology from Trooper and the OHP, but no

criminal or civil action should be taken by anyone of the parties. The one thing

lost in this whole mess is that each of us, law enforcement, FD, EMS all call on

each other for

assitance and safety, and no matter howTrooper acted on this day it may

come a time that Medic White will need his help or vice versa.
