Guest guest
I posted this on the pscmoms board and wanted to share here as well: ) Wyatt had his annual MRCP on Monday the 7th. We went in to see his local GI for results on Thursday the 10th and " woohoo, wowza, yay " !!!... his MRCP looked perfect and Dr. Mac said we obviously caught Wyatt's PSC in the earliest stage of stage 1. He said that, given Wyatt's latest (perfect) LFT's and the MRCP result, Wyatt does not need to have an annual MRCP and can wait 3yrs or more depending on how continuing LFT's come out. When Wyatt goes back at the end of June for his next LFT's, if those are perfect, we're going to ask if that means Wyatt can move down to twice a year LFT's instead of 4x/yr. We're also going to check in with Wyatt's UCSF Hepatology 'team' in May as well, but it looks like Wyatt is just going to move like molasses with his PSC and we are just over the moon about that! Wyatt was incredibly uplifted by the news and feels he's really beginning to 'catch a break'. He went into remission with his Crohn's in December and is now 'stagnant' at the earliest point with his PSC. He even went off his GERD meds this week as a 'test', after dropping to a lesser GERD med, then dropping the dose since December --successfully so far. When he goes in for his EGD and colonoscopy next month, if he's still in Crohn's remission and does not have any advancement with his inherited condition, I think he won't even know what to do with the deluge of good news --he'll be soooo happy. We can concentrate on his 'lesser' issues that are acting up instead --and maybe get those under control, too. Plus, my surgery went great, so my whole family may be moving into a real health 'upswing'. The day after we met with Dr. Mac to get Wyatt's MRCP results, I had surgery on my neck to decompress my spinal cord, remove a herniated disc, shave off bone spurs on the vertebrae, and fuse a new disc to the vertebrae. Zero complications arose and, though it's a hard recovery and I've had some setbacks already, it was a perfect surgery and I didn't " derail my family " , which was my biggest fear. I go back in 5&1/2 weeks from now for a similar surgery on my lower back and am anticipating an equally successful surgery. Russ goes in soon for a procedure to check on the growth in his j-pouch and I can't help but feel he'll get good results on it and not end up needing surgery on his pouch this summer. I just 'feel' like we're working toward a 'break' for all 3 of us. I can't wait 'til fall/winter when we should all be feeling good --I want to go on vacation w/ my hubby and son and just have FUN! Woo Hoo!! Meghan, mom to Wyatt-psc, ibd, fap, ai hives, gerd
