Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions I want some input on before Matt's GI appt. tomorrow. At the conference, Dr. Gores spoke about getting a lab test for Vit A & D deficiency as a baseline. He also said you don't need a test for Vit E as a deficiency in that is not as detrimental (if I recall correctly). But I don't remember why he didn't suggest a test for Vit K. Does anyone know why you wouldn't check for that as well? Also, after speaking to people at the conference, I realize Matt is on a pretty low dose of Urso. He's on 1500 mg/day at a weight of 185 lbs. I would like some information about the studies done and the benefits of high dose Urso. I also need to know what dose he would require (mg/kg/day). I would like to be able to present this to his GI when I request it. Thanks for your help, Martha B. (mom of Matt, 21, UC/PSC 6/
Guest guest
Hi Martha I'm not sure what the story is with the Vit K blood test, but I can chime in on the Urso question for you. I take UrsoForte, which is different from plain Ursodiol. I have no idea what the difference is, but I take half as many pills compared to Ursodiol. My prescrip is for 1500 mg a day, and I weigh around 120 pounds, so pound for pound, my dose is quite a bit higher than Matt's.
